You

will always be

your child's

favorite toy.

The proverbial kid in a candy shop, that's a toddler.  Up and around, ready for the next and the next, it is impossible to describe them as creatures of habit.  Even they know not where they'll be in a minute, or be into next.  The whole wide world is waiting out there, and what can possibly go wrong that you can't fix?  Or clean up?  Or replace?  If toddlers are heroic in every adventure it is only because they have excellent backup.

Toddlers are mental giants, if you consider the challenges they take in stride.  Learning to walk, talk, read, write, potty, paint, sing, wander, work the grownups and get their way through the course of a day is a task fit for a Hercules or Athena, not for small persons yet to look down on a yardstick.  But they tackle it all, they go at their day in the spirt of people who do the impossible because they hadn't been informed it wasn't possible.

Toddlers are on the fast track.  No sooner do they learn a trick or technique than they tie it in with two or three other things they learned ten minutes or tend days ago, and come out with something you could never imagine.

Like listening to bamboo grow, you can at times watch a child of this wandering age grow a bit right in front of you.  Tell them something new, take them someplace different, show them another way, and you change the whole world in their mind.  The improbable engineering of a toddler's world is the essence of creativity, for nothing there is nailed down, nothing is set in stone, unless and until they say it is.  And it falls you to keep up to date with the facts of life, not them.

Among the many memories you will cherish of this time in their lives, it is their posture and expressions that stand out.  Two and three year olds are absolute caricatures of curiosity, the personification of wonder and investigation.  They throw their whole soul and self into whatever they do and then, like a sunbeam, they move on.  No subject's too large or too small to find out about, from a butterfly to a black hole, from bathing to bouncing to being in charge of your time and attention.  Bringing the monumental power of an untrained and as yet unglued intellect to bear on everything they encounter is the essence of the toddler stage.  Never again will they come after the world with this kind of intensity and openness.

We'd like to invite you to our place to get some of this down on digital format.  Picturing them as they are today, years from now, will seem like a tall tale if you don't have the proof in your hand.  Bring your toddler in with their favorite toys, their favorite subjects, and let them explore and play in our child-safe studio.  Or if you prefer, we can come to their favorite spot for a photo shoot, and catch them in the act of stretching their limits and learning the new.

We have many parents from throughout the Lake Norman and Iredell areas who drop by with their little ones a couple times a year to catch the changes in personality and posture and approach to life that these toddler years contain.  For parents who are too close to the action every day, it's a rare treat to see two sets of pictures only six months apart that reveal how very much change is going on within their children.

Don't let these toddler years slip by undocumented.  Give us a call for an appoinment with fun today, at 704-876-4999.  Or, email us at  Andi@kidsonkamera.com
